What does a crypto swap site actually see when I never create an account

The site sees only what you voluntarily send it during a single swap transaction. It never sees your identity, your wallet address history, or any connection between separate swaps you perform.

When you swap without an account, the exchange process is deliberately stateless. The site receives a destination address you provide, a source address where you will send funds, and the pair of assets you want to exchange. That is the entire data set. No email, no IP logging beyond what the server necessarily sees, no cookie that ties one swap to the next. Each swap is a fresh, isolated event.

The technical mechanism works like this. You tell the exchanger: "I will send 1 token A to this address; please send token B to that address." The exchanger gives you a temporary deposit address, generated specifically for that swap. You send your tokens there. The exchanger confirms the transaction on the blockchain, executes the trade through its liquidity providers, and forwards the resulting tokens to your destination address. Once the swap completes, the deposit address is discarded. The site retains no link to you beyond the blockchain transactions themselves, which are public by design.

What the site can see from the blockchain is limited. It sees the source address you used to fund the deposit. That address is on the public ledger, visible to anyone. But the site does not know who controls that address. It does not know if that address is linked to a centralized exchange account under your real name, or if it is a fresh wallet you created for privacy. The site sees only the address, not the person behind it.

The exchanger also sees the destination address you provided. Again, that address is public. The site can observe that tokens moved from address A to its temporary address, then to address B. It cannot see what happens at address B afterward unless it monitors the blockchain continuously, which most swap sites do not do for individual swaps. The transaction is a one-time event.

What the site does not see is arguably more important. Without an account, the site cannot correlate your past swaps. If you swap 1 token A today and 1 token A again next week, the site has no way to know that the same person initiated both. Each swap uses a fresh deposit address, a fresh session, no persistent identifier. The only way to link them would be if you used the same source or destination address both times, which is your choice, not the site's data collection.

The site also does not see your wallet's full balance or transaction history. When you connect a wallet to a decentralized exchange, the dApp can query your wallet's token holdings and past transactions. With a no-account swap, you never connect a wallet. You simply send funds from any address you control. The site never interacts with your wallet software. It only sees the single incoming transaction.

Some swap sites do log IP addresses for rate limiting or fraud prevention. That data is typically short-lived and not linked to your identity unless you provide additional information. The site sees your IP, but it does not know who you are from that IP alone. Using a VPN or Tor can further separate that data point from your real identity.

The key distinction is that a no-account swap site is a blind processor. It takes instructions, executes them, and forgets. It does not build a profile. It does not analyze your behavior. It has no incentive to hoard data because it does not sell user information or serve targeted ads. Its business is the swap fee, not your data.
